Aug 24 2016JUST AN EXHIBITION
As we head toward the Browns' "dress rehersal" game with Tampa Bay Friday we are reminded again that the game means nothing. Yes, your alleged starting players will play more than any other pre-season game, but that's about it. Bill Belechick was asked about this yesterday (he's very popular here). He said it just right. There's no game-planning for these games, there's nothing but vanilla offenses and defenses, and players go hard enough to not get hurt. But it's NOTHING like the regular season, not even close. The best example always remains the '08 Lions, who went 4-0 in the pre-season, then 0-16 when the games counted. It's not real, just an exhibition. Except there IS wagering.
