Trooper Injured in OVI-Related Rear-Ender

A Huron County man was arrested at the scene after his pickup truck hit the rear of a State Highway Patrol car on Wednesday night – an incident involving a driver who was reportedly three sheets to the wind. The Patrol reports that the trooper had stopped along US 250 near Township Road 856 in Ashland County, where the Patrol car’s lights were activated and the trooper was working a previous crash involving a deer. The trooper was inside his vehicle when the pickup truck rammed it shortly after 6:00PM. The lawman was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and investigators report the truck driver, 46-year-old Scott Farnsworth of New London, allegedly had a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit at the time. He was booked on charges of OVI and failure to maintain assured clear distance.
