A pee-wee football coach helped Akron officers arrest a suspect over the weekend. According to Akron police, a 14 year old boy shot a handgun into the air around 5pm Saturday near the Erie Island Ballfield. An officer providing security for the game called for backup and rushed toward the suspect. One of the coaches joined in the pursuit and helped arrest the teen a block away. According to a press release, a handgun and other evidence were recovered. The teen was transported to the Summit County Juvenile Center.
