Not guilty of murder

A jury in the trial of a 21 year old Akron man accused of killing a 1 year old baby, found him not guilty of murder.  Ian Belcher was found guilty of a first degree misdemeanor charge of child endangerment.  He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 16th.  Akron police say on August 10th 2023, officers were called out to a home in the 600 block of Hancock Avenue for a heart issue involving a child.  According to police, the first responding officer found Arteyon Brooks Cannon unresponsive and immediately performed CPR until EMS Arrived and the baby was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  Belcher was later arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive task Force.
