A Copley police officer is recovering from injuries after his cruiser was hit on State Route 21 near the Copley Road exit during a recent traffic stop. Police said the officer was talking to the person he pulled over when his patrol car was struck. Police Chief Michael Meier, in a release said, “This is the kind of situation our police officers go through on a daily basis. It’s very dangerous to stop cars anywhere. It’s particularly dangerous to stop a vehicle on a highway where motorists are traveling at a high rate of speed.” The driver who hit the cruiser was also hospitalized. No update on his condition.
