The family of Jazmir Tucker, the 15 year old who was shot and killed last Thanksgiving by an officer with the Akron Police Department say that they have field a lawsuit against the city, Mayor Shammas Malik, Akron Police Chief Brain Harding, Officer Davon Fields, and several other parties for alleged unconstitutional use of force and municipal liability for training and oversight failures. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages. there were no criminal charges for the Akron officer involved in the fatal shooting of Tucker following a Grand Jury decision.
