A 37 year old Barberton man was sentenced yesterday to 9 to 13.5 years in prison for charges stemming from a 2025 drug trafficking offense. In October, Tavares Skipper pleaded guilty to 1 count of trafficking in cocaine, 2 counts of endangering children. In March of 2025, the Akron Police Narcotics Unit and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force executed a search warrant at the Barberton residence of Tavares Skipper, and recovered nearly 160 grams of cocaine packed in baggies, pills, and about $3,000 in cash suspected to be drug-trafficking proceeds. Officers also seized drug paraphernalia. The drugs were found where kids were present.
