2 rescued from Akron fire

Two people were rescued from a second floor apartment in Akron Tuesday night in the 100 block of E. South Street. Heavy fire was reported when firefighters arrived on scene.  According to officials, all other occupants who were inside the building had self-evacuated before crews made it to the scene.  The Akron Fire Department said the flames were quickly extinguished.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
