The Cavaliers stormed out of the gate last year and had the best record in the league for most of the season. This year something has drastically changed. They are barely sitting above 500 at the moment, their defense isn’t really a defense, and outside of Donovan Mitchell most nights they are not getting the production they were getting last year. They kept the same team intact and that may be part of the problem. After a third straight year of flaming out in the playoffs, the team probably needed a little shakeup. Instead they kept the Core 4 together and now they are floating around currently in mediocrity. Another issue is they can’t stay healthy. They have had a laundry list of injuries this season. There is time to turn it around but there have been no signs of that happening so far. Maybe it doesn’t matter, considering how good the Oklahoma City Thunder are playing. The trade deadline could be interesting if this continues. They were the favorite to win the Eastern Conference this season. But they definitely aren’t playing like it. Time to wake up, start playing better and get this thing going in the right direction, before it is too late.
What happened to the Cavs??
