The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking to hire 250 new troopers over the next year to stay ahead of retirements and staffing shortages. The agency currently has about 1,370 troopers and hopes to reach 1,600 statewide. Officials say more troopers will also be needed in the Cleveland area with increased traffic around the future Browns stadium.
Applicants must be 20 to 39 years old, pass written and physical tests, and are paid during training, with graduates earning $35 an hour.
