Elderly couple dies in house fire

An elderly couple and a dog died in a house fire Saturday in the city of Green.  Firefighters were called out to a home in the 3000 block of Myersville Road around 5pm.  The elderly couple was found and pulled from the home, and then they were transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.  Responding officers also found a deceased dog, however 4 cats in the home were able to escape.  Two people who lived at the home were not there at the time of the blaze.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
