The Akron Police Department is urging the public “to please secure your firearms safely” while announcing the city has already experienced 7 firearm thefts from cars this year, six of those thefts happened in 1 week alone.  Lt. Michael Murphy says in most cases, the guns are being stolen from cars that were left unlocked.  Lt. murphy advises, if you have a firearm in your car, it should be locked in a glove compartment or another area that is not easily accessible.  If you would like a gun lock, call 33-375-2390.
