Portage County voters will be asked soon, in the May 5th election, to approve a 0.4 mill property tax to support senior citizens. The replacement levy would redirect funds previously approved for abused and neglected children to help both children and senior citizens in need. Homeowners would pay $14 per year per $100,000 in property valuation. It would generate about $2.5 million annually.
