A small plane crashed in Richfield Township on Sunday afternoon, but the pilot escaped without injury, according to the Ohio state Highway Patrol. The crash occurred in the area of McCormick Drive and Medina Line Road. According to a release, the plane, a 1971 Piper 28-235, was travelling from Elyria, to Greenville, Pennsylvania. The pilot, a 60 year old man from Niles, was the only person on board and was not injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. OSHP says the Federal Aviation Administration will be completing a separate investigation.
