Gas price pain

By John Maczko May 1, 2026 | 12:50 AM

Drivers are feeling pain at the pump across the state of Ohio. Gas prices climbed to nearly $5 per gallon Wednesday for the first time since the 2022 energy spike when they hit record highs of $5.06 per gallon. Some stations raised prices to $4.99 per gallon for regular unleaded late Wednesday afternoon. Officials said the spike is being caused by ongoing refinery problems in the Midwest, the war with Iran and the Strait of Hormuz shutdown.
