Portage County school to close

Rootstown Local School District will close its middle school within 4 years, according to Superintendent Andrew Hawkins. Under the plan, sixth graders will attend Rootstown Elementary School when the building closes.  Seventh and Eighth graders will be moved to Rootstown High School.  The district’s Board of Education voted to transition students out of the building no later than the 2029-2030 school year, as part of a long term facilities plan.
