Strike looming

A strike is now looming for Akron Metro bus and transit workers.  Yesterday, the Transport Workers Union of America rejected a new 3 year contract proposal.  The vote was 294 to 2.  the contract doesn’t offer raises for 2 years and would increase healthcare costs for families by about $2,000 a year.  The proposal was issued by a state arbitrator and accepted by the Metro board earlier this week.  Workers are now moving forward toward a possible strike authorization.
