Guardians injury issues

By John Maczko Jun 17, 2026 | 8:07 AM

So the Guardians have been hovering near the top of the AL Central as usual and now as we near the halfway point of the season the injury bug has hit.  The best player on the team, Jose Ramirez, had to have surgery to repair a broke bone on his left hand.  Going to be out possibly a month to 6 weeks.  Angel Martinez, the team leader in home runs, has a foot fracture that could keep him out 4 to 6 weeks.  Chase DeLauter hurt his ribs, and could be playing in pain for a while.  This team has always been built more on pitching than hitting.  Once again this offseason, the team did nothing to improve their horrible offense from last year.  The Guardians were already bottom 5 in the league in batting average, before losing Ramirez and Martinez.  Better be prepared because this could be a trainwreck into August before we see how healthy Ramirez and Martinez are and when they will be ready to go.  No depth, a lot of youngsters, no extra offense help in the offseason.  Looks like a decent season could turn into a disaster quick.  Be ready, the season could become a waste in just weeks.  No one believes the ownership will make moves to keep it afloat until the players get back.  This team was a disaster waiting to happen at it looks like that disaster is now here.
