ODOT moved forward with a major bridge project Sunday morning with the demolition of 2 sections of a deteriorating bridge. Crews are replacing the old State Route 8 over the Cuyahoga River Valley. And during the demolition of the bridge all lanes of State Route 8 in the blast zone were closed along with streets within 1 thousand feet of that zone. The old bridge will be replaced by 2 new bridges. One for the northbound traffic and one for the southbound traffic. The process of cleaning up debris from the old bridge demolition will last through November, with the entire project to be finished in 2028.
