Akron City Council gives residents $150,000

By Kim Maxwell Oct 12, 2026 | 4:38 PM

Akron City Council is putting $150,000 in the hands of its residents.

Each of the city’s 10 wards will receive $15,000 to fund resident-led projects as part of its 2027 Neighborhood Partnership Grant Program.

These funds will be used to begin programs led by the residents such as community gardening, literacy, or neighborhood safety.

Eligible applicants for the program can include nonprofits, block clubs, faith-based organizations, community development corporations and other neighborhood-based organizations.

Grants are awarded through a competitive process based on project merit, applicant eligibility and available funding.

Applications can be found at the Akron City Council web page.
