Well… It’s not the Big Dipper or Killer Whale Shamu, but…
The former Geauga Lake and Sea World properties are making a come back thanks to the city of Aurora.
Phase 1 of Aurora Park at Geauga Lake will host a grand opening from 1 to 5 on Sunday, October 25 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and activities for all ages.
Aurora announced plans to acquire the former amusement park property in 2023, purchased Geauga Lake and 48 surrounding acres in December of 2024 for about 5.3 million dollars and broke ground about a year ago.
Future phases include a possible outdoor pool and splash pad, an amphitheater, sports courts and rock climbing areas. Plans to preserve Sea World’s old aquarium are also in the works.
