Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora wants out of his federal supervision early – or at least a transfer to Florida to live with his family.
Dimora was convicted in 2012 of 32 corruption-related federal charges, at that time, it was the largest corruption case in Ohio history. Originally sentenced to 28 years in prison. Dimor a received a commutation of his sentence from former President Joe Biden in 2024. He has been living at home in Ohio under federal supervision.
Last Friday, Dimora filed a letter with U.S District Judge Sara Lioi requesting termination of his supervised release term or the ability to complete his sentence in Florida. Citing health concerns and 2 recent heart procedures.
If denied, he requests the ability to move to Florida, to be with his family by transferring his supervision to Collier County.
The judge has not issued a ruling on the request. If both requests are denied, Dimora will serve the remaining 18 months of his sentence in Ohio with supervision.
