The Akron zoo is mourning the loss of its elderly snow leopard, 17 year old Tai lung. He was one of the oldest living leopards in the zoo. Most leopards live to be around 15 years old.
Tai Lung was being monitored for kidney disease and had experienced kidney failure and was having mobility issues. The Akron Zoo made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize the leopard.
Tai Lung came to the zoo in 2018. The zoo hopes to acquire a new snow leopard in the future.
