Akron police are investigating a shooting which occurred just after midnight Saturday in the 500 block of Hoye Avenue. According to witnesses, multiple gunshots were fired, and a large group of people were seen running away from the area. Shortly after, a black SUV traveling at a high rate of speed crashed while approaching Summa Health Akron. The SUV’s passenger, a 40 year old male, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds while walking towards the house in the same area as the initial call. He and the driver were on their way to the hospital when the accident occurred. The victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police recovered multiple shell casings from the scene.
