Akron families will have a chance to pick up free toys and clothing at a special event that is coming up on Saturday. The “Stop the Violence” community giveaway is being held at the Ed Davis Community center, 730 Perkins Park Drive, 10am to 4pm, and aimed at promoting a message of peace and community care. Last year, organizers gave out over 500 toys and hundreds of coats during the event. They expect to give out around 800 toys and even more coats at this year’s event. Families are encouraged to arrive early while supplies last. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to assist families. The event is open to the public at no cost.
