The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports nearly 20 people were killed in crashes during the 5 day Christmas holiday period. According to OSHP, 17 people were killed in 14 crashes on Ohio roadways. Of the 17 people killed, 4 were not wearing seat belts, 3 involved pedestrians, and 2 were related to OVI. During the period, troopers arrested 231 people for operating a motor vehicle while impaired and 35 for illegal drugs. They also issued citations for 288 seat belt and 146 distracted driving violations.
