A trooper was hit yesterday morning on I-76 Westbound in Portage County during a snowy commute. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says, the incident took place just before 10am near mile marker 39 near Rootstown Township, just south of Ravenna. According to the patrol, the trooper was reportedly investigating a traffic accident and was struck from behind while sitting in his cruiser. He was taken to the hospital for what are being described as non life-threatening injuries. It’s not clear what led to the crash, but then driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. No further information has been released at this time.
