24 fire departments respond to fire

Over 20 fire departments battled a massive fire at a Wayne County lumber yard Saturday night.  Just before 8pm, the fire broke out at Southwood Lumber Pallet on East Lincoln Way.  While responding, the roof of the lumber yard immediately collapsed due to the blaze, forcing defensive fire operations.  Over 50,000 gallons of water, 2 aerial aparatuses, multiple tankers, and heavy equipment were used to put out the fire.  The blaze was categorized as a 5 alarm fire, the highest and the most severe level.  In total, 24 different fire departments and over 75 personnel aided in response to the lumber yard fire.  There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation.
