NE Ohio hail storm

By John Maczko Apr 16, 2026 | 7:40 AM

Severe storms swept across Northeast Ohio Wednesday, bringing powerful winds, downpours, and large hail that caused some damage.  The storms downed large trees in Portage County in Suffield Township.  They also knocked out power to thousands of residents, with the most in Cuyahoga, Summit, and Portage counties.  Some communities are also experiencing flooding concerns.  Golf ball sized hail swept through Cuyahoga County Wednesday night, damaging homes and shattering windshields.
