Electric bills going up????

By John Maczko Apr 29, 2026 | 7:50 AM

FirstEnergy plans to propose a new residential rate structure.  If approved by state regulators, customers will be paying more.  The plan could go into effect as early as 2027.  The Akron area utility says it will file a 3 year rate plan with the Public Utilities Commission in May.  Ohio’s top utility regulator, PUCO, has set electric rates based on costs that utilities have already spent.  Under the new structure, FirstEnergy will update those rates each year.
