A 36 year old Akron man is heading to jail for 10 years for firearms charges and drug related offenses. Darron Portis is also sentenced to 4 years of supervision after his release when that 10 years of jail is completed. He was found guilty in January of 2025 with possession of a Smith and Wesson as well as Cocaine. Authorities say behind a wall at his home, they found tramadol, fentanyl, meth, a shotgun, and cash. Portis history in court includes convictions for burglary and abduction. Authorities believe the 10 year prison sentence will keep the city safer.
