1 dead, 1 injured in Akron bar shooting

One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting at a bar in Akron on Monday night. Tuesday, police announced a suspect was in custody. Officers responded around 8:15 p.m. to the Noisy Oyster Pub in the 1300 block of North Portage Path after reports that multiple people had been shot, according to the Akron Police Department.  Early info indicates the suspect and the victims were inside the bar when an argument broke out between the suspect and one of the men. There was a physical altercation before the suspect opened fire. A 31-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  The medical examiner identified him as Eric Schaffer, 31, of Cuyahoga Falls. A second victim, a 35-year-old man, was shot in both legs and transported to a hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Larnell Nealy Jr., who fled the scene on foot. He turned himself in at the Summit County Jail just after 11:15 p.m. Monday. He faces charges of murder and felony assault and is being held in the Summit County Jail.
