Akron’s race for Mayor

former Akron City Councilwoman Tara Mosley weems became the first candidate who said she will challenge Akron Mayor Shammas Malik in the May primary.  Mosley Weems, who ran unsuccessfully for mayor against Malik in 2023 tells the Beacon Journal, she has 11 months to make her case.  Malik already announced he would seek a second term.  she tells the paper, one of her top priorities, would be putting Akron police substations in neighborhood, one each for the north, south, east, and west, along with the downtown  headquarters.    She served on City Council for 10 years.
