Photo ID amendment on Ohio ballot

By John Maczko Jun 11, 2026 | 7:26 AM

Ohioans will vote in November on a constitutional amendment to require photo ID for in-person voting.  Supporters argue the measure strengthens election integrity, while critics say it makes voting harder for some citizens.  The measure now heads to the Ohio Ballot Board, which will craft the language that voters see on the ballot.  State lawmakers also passed the bill to require photo ID for mail-in voting, which would take effect in 2027.
