Man sentenced for role in fatal shooting

A 25 year old Canton man was sentenced for his role in a fatal shooting that occurred at a Halloween house party in 2024.  According to a release from the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, Terrance Williams, was sentenced to 18 to 23 years in prison in the shooting death of 40 year old Brain Cofer.  investigators say Williams was part of a group that crashed a house party on Canton Road during Halloween weekend in 2024 and began fighting with partygoers.  Several people were hurt in the fight. Cofer was shot as he was trying to remove unruly partygoers.  Witness testimony and video footage captured during the shooting help police identify Williams as the shooter.
