Data center Amendment? Maybe next year

By John Maczko Jun 25, 2026 | 7:36 AM

Conserve Ohio, a grassroots organization attempting to collect enough signatures for an amendment to ban data centers in Ohio, fell short of its goal.  Ohio has more than 200 data centers, most in the center of the state, 6th highest in the country.  The amendment would have prohibited most modern day data centers, forbidding those with peak load of more than 25 megawatts per month.  Conserve Ohio is now aiming to place the issue on the ballot in 2027.
