Deputies from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2 vehicle crash fatal crash that occurred Monday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, the crash was reported around 7;30am on U.S. Route 224 at Buffman Road in Westfield Township. It involved a Subaru SUV and a semi tractor-trailer. The driver of the Subaru, identified as 79 year old Crispin Vargas, of Lodi, was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Th driver of the semi was not injured. The preliminary investigation indicates that Vargas failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic, when he was hit.
