The City of Kent has a new Police Chief. Gary Stone started his new position on July 13. Stone becomes the 12th chief in the city’s 104 year history according to city officials. Stone comes to Kent after 42 years with the Lakewood Police department where he spent 17 years as captain. Stone succeeds Nicholas Shearer who stepped down voluntarily, but will remain on the Kent force as an administrative captain.
