Two men suffered severe burns after a suspected gas explosion destroyed a home in Canton yesterday morning sending debris across a neighborhood and damaging nearby homes. The explosion happened around 4am on Bonnet Place NE. The explosion was so strong it could be heard 2 miles away. The 2 men injured were both taken to Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit. As of last night, fire officials have not released any updates on their conditions. Investigators say neither man lived at the Bonnet Place home, which the fire chief confirmed was vacant, and did not disclose why they were inside as the investigation is ongoing.
