The New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle Saturday. The incident occurred on State Route 212 east of Tabor Ridge Road in Warren Township at 12:30 p.m. A red 2012 Harley-Davidson Street Glide 103 motorcycle, driven by 73-year-old James Goodmote of Rootstown, was reported to be heading eastbound on the state route. A brown 2006 Honda Civic, driven by 32-year-old Corey Fisher of Dover, was heading westbound on the state route. The Civic traveled left of center and struck the motorcycle. The car went off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail . The motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail, and then slid down an embankment. Goodmote, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fisher, the driver of the Honda Civic, is reported to have sustained serious injuries and was transported to Aultman Hospital. Fisher was not wearing a seat belt and impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
