The pedestrian who was struck and killed Saturday, has been identified as a 35 year old Akron man. Jaymeeson Franklin was killed when a vehicle traveling west on West Market Street in Highland Square hit him as he was crossing West Market. The incident occurred around 2am near South Highland Avenue. Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a release, after striking Franklin, the vehicle continued westbound, striking a Buick Encore and then 2 parked vehicles. Two people were taken to the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
