Two Women Who Escaped Canton Jail in court

By Kim Maxwell Oct 15, 2026 | 3:58 PM

The two women who escaped from the Stark Regional Community Correction Center earlier this week, were arraigned in Canton Municipal Court today (Thursday)

Hope Skerrett and Kerriah Ohler each pleaded not guilty to the third-degree felony escape charge.

Bond was set at $150,000 and will return to court on Oct. 19.

Canton police said Skerrett and Ohler escaped from the facility in the 4400 block of Lesh St. NE in Louisville around 7 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the women jumped off the roof and then fled through the Fairhope Nature Preserve, across the street from the facility.

Staff noticed the women were missing while closing the outdoor area for the night, said police.

They found a shoe outside the fence and a robe over the razor wire, then called police within about 20 minutes.
