Ohio saw its highest midterm voter turnout in more than 30 years. Unofficial numbers from the Ohio Secretary of State show statewide turnout reached 58%, the highest for a midterm election since 1990. That compares with about 52% in 2022 and nearly 56% in 2018. According to state officials, there was an extremely high number of early in-person voters, but fewer vote-by-mail voters than expected. Overall, it seemed like people might have just shifted their voting method.
