James Johns Case Continued

The case of James Johns, a former dog groomer charged with animal abuse by torture, has been continued until next month in Boone County court.

In an email to KXEO News, Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney Jacob Shellabarger says the case was continued until July 12th for either a disposition or setting for trial, meaning the case will either be resolved or a trial date will be set.

Johns is accused of picking up a Yorkshire Terrier by the neck and shaking it violently while employed as a groomer at a now-closed Mexico grooming business in 2019.

Johns was charged along with Taylor Stout who pled guilty to animal abuse on May 14th in Boone County on a change of venue.
