Multiple Areas Closed At Mark Twain Lake Temporarily

Storms over the weekend are causing a number of closures to Mark Twain Lake recreation facilities according to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Due to downed trees and other debris, Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds are closed until at least July 18th and will also be burning large amounts of wood debris this week and possibly later.

Frank Russell and Ray Behrens Campgrounds, Warren G. See South Spillway, M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center, Spalding Day Use, Bluffview Recreation Area, and Hunter / Fisherman Access 70 are all closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.

Additionally, the Salt River basin that drains into Mark Twain Lake is expected to crest next Wednesday, July 21 at more than 24 feet above full pool at 630.8 feet above sea level.

High water is causing the temporary closure of Indian Creek and Spalding Beaches, Joanna and Lick Creek Trails, Hunter-Fishermen Accesses 11, 20, 61, 30, 23, 54, 33, and 32 and within Mark Twain State Park the beach, and ramps at Route U and Highway 107.

South Fork Recreation Area will be closed for approximately four days starting tomorrow (Tuesday) while the boat ramp is used as a staging area for work barges.
