Head-on fatal crash

The Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a 2 vehicle head-on crash which occurred around 230am Saturday morning on I-76 near State Route 57 in Wadsworth Township, in Medina County. In a press release, a preliminary investigation revealed a Chevy Equinox, operated by 26 year old Leo Hernandez, of Mexico, was traveling the wrong way on I-76, eastbound in the westbound lanes. A Chevy Silverado with an attached camper, operated by 29 year old David Cole of Clinton, was traveling west on I-76. The Equinox struck the Silverado head-on. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. A 31 year old passenger in his vehicle was transported the hospital with serious injuries. Cole and his infant passenger, 1 year old, Cade Cole, were not injured in the crash. Another passenger, 33 year old Jenna Cole received minor injuries. All individuals involved were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
