23 year old Sydney Powell, of Akron, who was recently convicted in the murder of her mother, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in prison. She was found guilty last week of the killing of her mother, 50 year old Brenda Powell in their Scudder Avenue home. Prosecutors say Sydney Powell hit her 50 year old mother over the head with an iron skillet and then stabbed her more than 30 times in their home in March of 2020. She was found guilty of murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. She had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Sydney will be eligible for parole after 15 years.
