Akron police are investigating the carjacking of a mother and a young child over the weekend. According to authorities, it happened around 330pm Saturday in the 1300 block of Diagonal Road. According to the victim, she was preparing to unload her vehicle when she was approached at gunpoint by an unknown man wearing a blue coat and a black mask. The woman quickly got her one year old child out of the backseat just before the suspect took off with her car. The 2019 GMC Acadia was recovered on Superior Avenue in Akron around 2pm Sunday. The suspect was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20’s. The mother and her young child were not injured in the incident.
