Akron detectives launched an investigation following a shooting that left a 41 year old man dead early Sunday morning. Around 350am, officers responded to Inman Street and E. Archwood Avenue on a shots fired call. On scene, they located the victim with apparent gunshot wounds a few blocks away at Inman and Davies Streets. The victim died later at Akron City Hospital. The victim’s name has not been released. Based on preliminary information, investigators determined that the victim was walking on Inman Street after leaving a bar in the 700 block of East Archwood Avenue. Moments later, the victim was confronted by an unknown assailant, who pulled out a hand gun and shot him several times. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction after the shooting. An altercation at the establishment may have proceeded the fatal shooting. Evidence of the crime was recovered at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
