After months of debate, Akron Public School Board of Education approved a redistricting plan. The plan calls for the closing of Firestone Park Elementary and the termination of Essex and Stewart early learning programs. Robinson CLC students will be moved to David Hill and Mason CLC’s. Then, Stem High School students will move into Robinson CLC building. Students from 4 other schools will be transferred as well to reduce overcrowding. APS says the plan is in response to population changes over the last 20 years. The district is telling families to visit the website, akronschools.com, where the entire plan is laid out with the new boundary map.
